Playoffs
Team too good for your current level? Not a problem! At the end of every season, you will have a chance to prove whether you deserve to move up a level. This happens in the playoff games, where 1st place from Mid plays last place from High, and 1st place from High plays last place from Top.
Not only is this a chance for you to move up a level, it's also a time (if your season hasn't gone as well...) to prove that you still belong in your current one. If, as the 1st place team, you win the game - congratulations! You move up a level, switching with the team you just beat. If you lose, nothing changes, and both teams stay in the level they're currently in.
The winning team can also decide to stay in the level they're currently in, if they prefer.
Rules
The rules in the playoffs are a bit different than usual USBF games.
- You are (usually) not allowed substitutes from other teams. The only time you can use players not from your team are if, due to injuries or other valid reasons, you have less than 7 players, and/or less than 2 non-male players. In that case, you must inform the board ahead of time (3+ days), stating why you're shorthanded and which player(s) you would like to use for the game. Players must be of similar level to your team. The board must then accept your choice of substitute(s).
- Additionally, there is a team foul limit per half. After 8 fouls, the opposing team is in the bonus, meaning every defensive foul (shooting & non-shooting) committed will result in free throws for the offense. This resets at the end of each half. It is the responsibility of the scorer's table to keep track of the number of fouls.
- There are no ties in playoff games. If, at the end of the 2nd half, the game is tied... TBD.
